Off-Tour Picks (Worth Doing)

These stood out because they felt more personal and less packaged — the kind of experiences you remember later on.

• Red History Museum — Easy to visit, well done, and gives useful context without feeling heavy.
• War Photo Limited Museum — Powerful and thought-provoking. Not light, but meaningful if you want more depth.
• Early Morning / Nighttime Walks in Old Town — Before the cruise crowds arrive or after they leave, the city feels completely different.
• Eat Like You’re Not on a Schedule — Pizza, burek, gelato, or an octopus sandwich between walks. Some of the best meals are unplanned.

Day Trips Worth the Time

• Mostar (Bosnia & Herzegovina) — A long day, but absolutely memorable.
• Kotor (Montenegro) — One of the most scenic bays in Europe.
